Fear, Dreams and The Labyrinth.

02 May, 2016

Bonjour lovely friend!

Do you ever find the very moment you’ve moved towards your dreams, stepped out in faith, or taken a risk... bam... discouragement comes and hits you over the head with a baseball bat? Well, metaphorically speaking anyway. Well I want to shine a BIG FAT LIGHT on this today because this is what happened to me after I launched The Dreams Co. on Friday! {I know, sounds crazy right?!} So here's some vulnerability to encourage you today. :)

Picture this. You've spent months and monnnnnnths working on something so dear to your heart, putting in many, many hours and late nights, imagining and visualising the day... then when it actually happens, it's not what you expected. Sound familiar?

Rewind to last Friday afternoon.

The moment I pressed send to launch The Dreams Co., the thoughts came sliding down the slippery slope at a thousand miles an hour. "Um. Oh my gosh, what have you done? Who's going to sign up? Are people really going to be encouraged by you Nat? Who the heck do you think you are?" I'm SERIOUS guys! And even despite KNOWING they were clearly LIES, I was still shocked and quite annoyed actually! Now... I know The Dreams Co. is going to impact people's lives, but that’s not the point.

So let's just review this little shamozzle for a moment.

When God gives you a BIG dream, a dream that is going to bless and encourage the world, there is one who is not happy. 24/7, 365 days a year, the enemy of our souls is determined to hold us back. The bible calls him "the father of lies" and his sole purpose is to cause us to think small, live in fear, compare, worry about what people think and fail {boring}. So when we believe these lies we never move forward. More than that, we shrink back and shrivel up.

So this was me on Friday. Freeeaking out.

The MOMENT I launched The Dreams Co. {who's SOLE PURPOSE, mind you, is to help you push past fear and dream with great authority}... negative thoughts filled my mind and I was riddled with fear. Ummmm. How flipping ridiculous right? Fear is such a LIAR! It is NOT who we are. And even amidst this tornado of swirling negative thoughts, I knew this was not the real me. But I needed to hear truth.

Have you seen the 80s movies Labyrinth? My fav scene in the whole movie is the moment Sarah looks at Jareth, the Goblin King {David Bowie} and says to him, "You have no power over me." It’s a game changer. He loses his power over her because she realises WHO she is and the great authority that comes from truly knowing it.

So how do we conquer fear and remind ourselves who we truly are?
Simple. Ask God to reveal his truth.

So after this barrage of discouragement, I decided I needed a walk. No technology. No ear phones. Just me, the beach + God. I asked him to speak his truth to my heart and he did {which I will share in the next blog}. Suddenly all the lies had no power and I was back on track with fresh perspective, filled with hope and joy.

I am a BIG dreamer, but as you can see I still face many {crazy} things that try and hold me back. And I know you do too. But I always know the way back to hope and joy, so I'd really love to help too. I've written The Dreams Co. for this specific purpose: to help you realise how POWERFUL and special you are. This world NEEDS what you have inside you and I want to help you release it. I’m not promising it will be easy, {heck no} BUT... worth it? Definitely.

"I can't stop thanking God for you—every time I pray, I think of you and give thanks. But I do more than thank. I ask—ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory—to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is he is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for you."
(Ephesians 1:15-19)
