You're about to come ALIVE.

11 January, 2017

Hey, friends and welcome to 2017!

Let me ask an honest question. How excited are you feeling about this year? I have had a challenging few weeks, which makes me think mayyyyybe some of you have also? Maybe it's been a stellar start for you, full of hope and expectation… but perhaps for some of you, there have been a few stingy moments, some pain and disappointment hanging around from last year?

Well my hope for this bloggy blog is that by the end of it, you will be feeling full of encouragement.

I have been having crazy chronic pain for quite some time now, and these last two months have been so debilitating. But -- this week, something happened.

Something has changed. Not a change in the pain, but a change in my spirit. New hope. Something has sparked. In the last two days, despite the pain in my jaw, neck and back still causing great discomfort, (cut to a scene of me laying on the floor at work, with a back rolling device wedged under my upper back, doing awkward stretches) I have felt more ALIVE. I’ve been reading this book by E.W Kenyon and it’s actually changing the way I think and see.

Each year I ask God for a theme for the year. A path to wander down and to create expectation. And this year, my theme is:

F u l l y  A l i v e

Darkness surrounds us when we have no hope. We have no hope when a) we think small, b) we don't know who we are, and c) we are not doing the very thing we have been created for {the thing that makes us come ALIVE}. So the only way we can come FULLY alive is for our hearts to be awakened to WHO we are and WHO we have been created to be.

As Paul Young so brilliantly illustrates in the book The Shack;

"When a bird's wings are clipped it can still walk, but it lives within the limitation of its ability. Sure, walking is okay, but flying is flourishing and thriving."

Are you fully alive? Or do you feel like a bird with its wings clipped, knowing there IS more, realising there IS potential, but not knowing HOW to activate it?

Hopelessness breeds in the soil of lack of purpose.

Stop and think. When in your life have you been MOST ALIVE? Why? Why did you feel so alive?

The things you LOVE are the clues to your PURPOSE. And when you don't do them you feel something is missing. Maybe you can relate? So how can we awaken our hearts? I flicked open my Message bible the other day (such a great easy-read and powerful translation) and this is what I found:

"I will not leave you orphaned. I’m coming back.
In just a little while the world will no longer see me,
but you’re going to see me because I am alive
and you’re about to come ALIVE." ~ Jesus

(John 14:18-19 The Message)

Such beautiful and life-giving hope. The instant I read it my heart was injected with hope. What a promise! "You’re about to come ALIVE!" Yep. I'm taking that.

So how do we actually get there? To the "coming alive" part? Haha, well I have been asking myself the same question... and I have found for me, that God is always committed to seeing me come alive, but there are things that I can do to partner with him.

4 Ways To Come Alive:

1. Be childlike.
Your childhood is actually the biggest clue to your dreams. It holds all the keys and reveals your deepest passions. You can learn a lot from going “back to the playground”. (We go more into this in The Dreams Co. course.) What did you LOVE when you were little? Spend 1 hour doing that this week.

2. Read LIFE-giving words from one of the great fathers and mothers of Faith.
Some examples: CS Lewis, RT Kendall, RW Tozer, Katherine Kuhlman. Even reading a few simple sentences injects me with faith, puts everything into perspective and slaps all the hopelessness out of me.

3. Stop. Rest. And enjoy the simple life.
Busyness is the road to exhaustion. When you’re exhausted you’re weary. When you’re weary, you don’t dream. And when you don’t dream, you don’t feel alive, which means you actually feel dead inside. Jesus said, “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (Matt 11:28-30 The Message)

4. Read your bible.
I’ve saved the best til last. There is no secret formula. This book is alive and active, so whenever you read it, whatever you read, however you read it’s ALIVE so it will speak to you and bring LIFE to your mortal body. It’s food and life and it changes everything in an instant. Try The Message version, and start with John. It’s so flipping good. Particularly Chapter 14:18-19)

So my lovely friend, wherever you are in the world, I pray if you are reading these words and feeling even a tiny bit hopeless, that new HOPE is ignited in your heart. This is YOUR year. I pray you would remember the things that have made you come alive throughout your life, and that you would hear the whisper of HOPE today. I pray you would know how loved you are and that you are being cheered on by all of heaven today. And for those who know the thing that makes you come alive, but are feeling stuck, or just need a flat out miracle... I am asking our great and faithful Father today, before the day is through, to open a door for something to happen in your life. I'm asking that He would make a way where there appears to be NO way. Thank you God nothing is too hard for you! Amen.

Something AMAZING is going to happen for you this year. It's time for you to FLY.

I’d love to keep encouraging you. The Dreams Co. is my 12-month online mentoring program and ENROLMENT OPENS TODAY for two weeks.
Come be part of the family and we can all dream BIG together.

I am praying for you right now!

Love Nat xoxo
